Building a Future with Purpose and Faith
This week, I have been thinking about what I really want for my future—the kind
of life I want to have in the next few years, and what I want it to be like
when I am older. I have been asking myself: Are my plans really what I want?
Are my goals taking me to that vision? I see that it’s not only about dreaming,
but also about making sure my actions every day are leading me there. I want my
goals to match the person I want to become, staying true to my values and
faithful to my promises.
Elder Quentin L. Cook said: “I encourage everyone, young
and old, to review goals and objectives to exercise greater discipline. Our
daily conduct and choices should be consistent with our goals. We need to rise
above rationalizations and distractions. It is especially important to make
choices with our covenants to serve Jesus Christ in righteousness.”
This reflection has shown me that my goals are not just for
personal success, they are also about being true to my commitments and becoming
the person God wants me to be. It’s about taking small, steady steps to match
my actions with my values, even if there are challenges I want to be
disciplined in looking at my goals and adjusting them, always focusing on what
is most important. In this way, I can make sure my life’s direction is not just
about success, but about serving with faith, honesty, and purpose.
